travel cruising the world ruby princess the mexican riviera
CAPTAIN: GIORGIO POMATA

Lynn and I took this Mexican Riviera cruise early in 2017 and the ship was in good shape and the service was also very good.
We were in a good mood and booked some "adventursome" land excursions into the Sierra Madres in both Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta.
It was very interesting to see the country side outside the resort cities and to visit some of the old historic mining towns.
In some previous years, the cruise ships had avoided the Mazatlan area because of fighting between the different cartels.
Our tours were escorted by armed police and we saw no disturbances and felt no threats at any time.
One of our guides implied that the fact that our guards were cartel members assured no problems.
Whether this was true or not, I do not know... but we enjoyed our time in the countryside.
